Paul Swainson turned up at the flying field today with an old style flying helmet and goggles, He said "It was to help with his landings". On a very windy day it proved that it worked with 5 out of 5 perfect landings.

ATTENTION MEMBERS   - All you need to  know in one place. Videos, Q and A's

The most important step for any beginner pilot is the 'A' test, It shows you have the ability to fly on your own.

The club offers a training capability for new and existing members to take them through their A test. Members who want support should make contact with an appropriate trainer and arrange suitable times to meet at the field.

Are you an experienced flyer, or an absolute beginner?

Mereside Model Club flies from a secure, private site in Lathom.
The car parking is adjacent to the flying site, with vehicle access to the pits to unload models.

The grass runway is approx. 220 meters long, 20 meters wide and is regularly mowed and rolled,
A club Whats App group lets members liaise, to arrange meeting up to go flying.
The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association and has BMFA approved flight instructors and examiners, so we are able to  provide tuition for your BMFA ‘A’ and ‘B’ proficiency certificates and then carry out the examination on our flying site, so you feel comfortable with your surroundings.
Across the membership, we have a wealth of knowledge covering building techniques, radio installation and IC and electric power, so there is always someone to answer questions about model builds, radio installation and engine and motor set-up.
If you are a complete beginner, we would love you to come and spend a day with one of our instructors and have a Free Trial Flight with one of our flying club model planes. It`s really not as difficult as it looks! Use the contact page or contact number on the top left of this page and arrange your trial flight now!
